Brandy Charles, Au.D., CCC-A

Brandy Charles received her B.A. in Communication Sciences and Disorders in 2004 and her Doctorate in Audiology in 2008 from the University of Pittsburgh. Following her Externship at the VA Hospital, Dr. Charles worked in both medical and private practice settings, as well as serving as a clinical supervisor for both the University of Pittsburgh and Loyola University of Maryland. Dr. Charles has also served as the Audiology Supervisor for the University of Maryland Rehabilitation and Orthopedic Institute’s Cleft Palate Program and Loyola’s Brain Injury Assessment Program. Dr. Charles joined Gallaudet’s Department of Hearing, Speech, and Language Sciences as a Clinical Educator in 2018. Dr. Charles is a Fellow of the American Academy of Audiology (AAA) and holds a Certificate of Clinical Competence in Audiology with the American Speech-Language-Hearing-Association (ASHA).

Professional interests:  Adult hearing assessment and rehabilitation, vestibular evaluation, assistive listening technology, and adult amplification services. Dr. Charles is also an adjunct lecturer within the department, teaching the Amplification II course.

Outside interests: Dr. Charles enjoys adventuring outdoors, spending time with her husband, daughter, and two dogs, and trying new restaurants and cuisines.
